Capture A Higher Effective Projected Price And Maximize Your Coverage.

MPD Plans

While MPCI policies only use the average price in February1 to set your projected price, MPD adds 2, 3 or 4 extra months2 to your discovery period. These extra months may allow you to capture a higher effective projected price. A larger discovery period offers a better view for the coming year's trend, so you can feel confident about your marketing decisions.

We establish MPD prices using the average prices from the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), the same organization RMA uses for the projected price and harvest price. MPD's maximum price increase above the MPCI projected price is $0.35 for corn and $1.00 for soybeans.

MPD coverage can only be purchased for corn or soybeans covered by a Revenue Protection (RP) policy. Crops must be grown for grain with an RP coverage level of 70%, 75%, 80% or 85%. Refer to the policy provisions for other restrictions.

Although your MPCI policy can use basic, optional or enterprise units, MPD is based on enterprise units and the MPD acreage must meet the enterprise unit guidelines to be insurable. As a result, an MPD indemnity may be calculated differently than its underlying MPCI policy.

Key MPD Features:

  • Underlying basic or optional unit support
  • TA APH support
  • Extra months
  • Premium dates match the MPCI policy
  • No price cups
