On August 4, 2012 at the Humphrey-Mondale dinner, Jim Deal of NAU Country/QBE, was awarded the Orville L. Freeman Award. This award is presented for distinguished service to Greater Minnesota and Agricultural issues.
Mr. Freeman was a former Secretary of Agriculture and Governor of Minnesota. Jim was the Manager of the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation during the Carter Presidency and was instrumental in the passage of the FCIC Act of 1980 that allowed private industry to sell and service crop insurance for the betterment of service to the American Farmer. Today, crop insurance covers over 85% of all acreage in the U.S. that has growing crops and is the most successful public/private partnership program in existence.
Congratulations to Jim on this terrific honor and helping NAU Country/QBE grow into the 3rd largest crop company in the country.
